The CAT is the entrance exam for over 150 management institutes across India, including 21 IIMs. This online exam is held annually, with the 2024 exam scheduled for November 24th. The WAT/GD/PI rounds for IIM admissions occur from late January to April, with academic sessions starting in June or July.

CAT assesses general aptitude, focusing on English, Math, Data Interpretation, and Logical Reasoning—key areas found in other competitive exams like Bank PO, SSB, and campus placements. What makes CAT unique is the vast array of opportunities it unlocks, leading to intense competition. However, preparing for CAT also equips you for many other management entrance exams.

The concepts tested in Other Management Entrance Tests (OMETs) are generally similar to CAT, with the exception of GK/Current Affairs questions in some exams. CAT preparation is typically sufficient for OMETs as well, ensuring a strong foundation across these tests.
