GWPI stands for Group Discussion, Written Ability Test (WAT), and Personal Interview. It was formerly known as GDPI. Recently, with the IIMs favoring WAT over GD, GWPI has become the preferred term. Some B-schools refer to the Written Ability Test as essay writing.
GWPI is the second stage of the B-school selection process. The number of students who receive a call for the GWPI stage depends on the number of seats available at an institute and the call-to-seat ratio. This ratio varies from a minimum of 2.5:1 for top B-schools to different ratios for lower-ranked ones. Generally, most top-15 B-schools have a ratio between 10:1 and 15:1. This means that getting shortlisted is only half the task; the other half is performing well in the GWPI process to secure a final seat in the preferred B-school.
What do Indias top B-Schools look for in aspirants?
