IIM Mumbai Calls 2026 | GDPI Dates & selection criteria
IIM Mumbai put out its shortlist for 2026 admissions on January 20, 2026. As a CAT aspirant who gave CAT 2025, go to iimmumbai.ac.in and check your name on the list using your CAT registration number. The deadlines are coming up fast, so do not wait.

IIM Mumbai does not just look at your overall CAT score. A CAT aspirant has to clear separate cutoffs for VARC, DILR, and QA — and also the overall cutoff — all at the same time. The numbers are different for General, NC-OBC, EWS, SC, ST, and PwD students. CAT 2025 results are already out. Check your scores against the cutoffs right now. Once you see your name on the shortlist, log in to the portal, fill in your details — personal information, education, and work experience — and upload all your documents before February 15, 2026.

IIM Mumbai CAT Cutoff 2026
Check CAT 2025 scores first. IIM Mumbai has cutoffs for each section — VARC, DILR, and QA — and also one overall cutoff. A CAT aspirant has to cross all four numbers at the same time. Scoring high in one section but low in another does not work. No exceptions.
| Category | VARC | DILR | QA | Overall |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| OPEN | ≥ 80 | ≥ 80 | ≥ 75 | ≥ 85 |
| NC-OBC | ≥ 70 | ≥ 65 | ≥ 65 | ≥ 75 |
| EWS | ≥ 70 | ≥ 65 | ≥ 65 | ≥ 75 |
| SC | ≥ 65 | ≥ 60 | ≥ 60 | ≥ 70 |
| ST | ≥ 55 | ≥ 55 | ≥ 55 | ≥ 65 |
| PwD | ≥ 45 | ≥ 45 | ≥ 45 | ≥ 55 |
Crossing the cutoff only means a CAT aspirant is shortlisted. It does not mean the seat is confirmed. The final selection works like this:
- CAT score decides 60% of the result
- Personal Interview decides 20%
- School, college marks and work experience decide the remaining 20%
A strong CAT score alone is not enough. A weak interview or poor academic record can still cost the seat.

IIM Mumbai Selection Criteria 2026
IIM Mumbai gives 20% weightage to academics and work experience. This 20% is calculated using something called the AR score. The formula is:
AR = [0.70 × (A + B + C) + 0.20 × D]
- A = points for Class 10 marks
- B = points for Class 12 marks
- C = points for graduation marks
- D = points for work experience
Each one has a points table. Find where the marks fall, pick the points, and put them into the formula.
Class 10 Marks (Score A)
| Percentage in Class 10 | Points (A) |
|---|---|
| 55% or below | 1 |
| 55% to 60% | 2 |
| 60% to 70% | 3 |
| 70% to 80% | 5 |
| 80% to 90% | 8 |
| Above 90% | 10 |
Class 12 Marks (Score B)
Class 12 points depend on the stream. Science, Commerce, and Arts each have different slabs.

Graduation Marks (Score C)
This depends on the type of degree. IIM Mumbai puts degrees into groups — AC-1, AC-2, AC-3, AC-4, AC-5, and AC-6. Each group has its own points table.
AC-1, AC-2 and AC-3
| Percentage | Points (C) |

| 65% to 75% | 8 |
| Above 75% | 10 |
Work Experience (Score D)
A CAT aspirant with no work experience gets 0 points here. That is fine — D simply becomes 0 in the formula. Work experience only adds extra points.
| Work Experience (up to Dec 31, 2025) | Points (D) |
|---|---|
| Less than 12 months | 0 |
| 12 months to 36 months | 0.20 × (total months − 11) |
| More than 36 months | 5 (maximum) |
A CAT aspirant with 24 months of experience gets: 0.20 × (24 − 11) = 0.20 × 13 = 2.6 points.
A CAT aspirant with 36 or more months gets the maximum of 5 points — nothing more beyond that.
What To Do Right Now After Getting IIM Mumbai Calls 2026
Complete the Application First: Log in, fill everything in, and upload all documents well before February 15, 2026. The portal gets slow on the last day. Do not risk losing the seat to a technical problem.
Calculate the AR Score: Use the formula above and find out where things stand. Knowing the AR score helps a CAT aspirant understand how much the PI performance needs to make up.
Start PI Preparation Now: Many shortlisted students waste the first two weeks. Start mock interviews today. Read current affairs daily. Go back to graduation subjects. Think clearly about why IIM Mumbai specifically.
Study IIM Mumbai Properly: Know the programs, faculty, recent placements, and what sets IIM Mumbai apart from other IIMs. The panel will ask "Why IIM Mumbai?" — and a vague answer will not work.
Mistakes To Avoid After Getting IIM Mumbai Calls
Missing the Deadline: February 15 is the last day for document submission. No extensions. Upload everything at least 2 to 3 days early.
Ignoring Academic Scores: Class 10, Class 12, and graduation marks all go into the AR formula. They cannot be changed now — but every CAT aspirant should know exactly where they stand.
Going Into the PI Unprepared: The panel catches memorized answers fast. They go deep — into work experience, graduation subjects, and current affairs. Prepare with real understanding, not scripts.
Uploading Wrong Documents: A wrong category certificate or a name mismatch leads to disqualification. Check every document before uploading.
Dropping Off the Waitlist: The waitlist at IIM Mumbai stays open until April 30, 2026. Keep checking the portal regularly.
IIM Mumbai Calls 2026: Conclusion
Getting an IIM Mumbai call is a big step. But the work is not over yet. There are deadlines to meet, documents to upload, and a GDPI round to prepare for. The final seat depends on the CAT score, the Personal Interview, and the academic record. Keep checking iimmumbai.ac.in regularly and make sure paperwork does not become the reason for missing out.
