SELECTION PROCESS FOR THE IIMs

Phase 1: IPMAT / JIPMAT exam

Let’s have a look at the overall selection procedure:

Step 1: Selection in Phase 1

Applicants who appear for Phase 1 are shortlisted based on their raw score and minimum marks in each of the section of the exam. The cut off for the exam varies every year depending upon the difficulty level of the paper in that particular year. Applicants who score the desired marks are shortlisted for Phase 2 of the selection procedure.

Step 2: Shortlisted for Phase 2

In Phase 2 of the selection procedure, Personal Assessment or Personal Evaluation of the candidate is being done. This may involve any combination of WAT (Written Aptitude Test), PI (Personal Interview) and VBA (Video Based Evaluation).

Step 3: Final Selection

The final Merit Score or Composite Score is released based upon the overall score of a candidate in Phase 1 and Phase 2. Those who clear this minimum criterion (designed by the IIMs itself) are then offered call letter for the admission.
